Made 44 four patches (in corner of this block) to be used in the quilt. Made these three blocks today, they go in center of quilt.
Trying to decide where each star should go.

Challenge quilt
Started working on the guild's challege quilt. This photo was taken on November 1. I ran out of fabric as you can see.
This is the challenge fabric. The theme is, "Our Good Nature". After a few ideas I decided to make a quilt with my mother in mind. All those wonderful years in the veggie gardens!!

Starting Jacqueline's Quilt
Finished the star blocks this morning. (November 5, 2009)
Starting the stars... (November 1, 2009)
I'm starting Jackie's quilt today. She picked out the fabrics before going to college. They are romantic prints. After looking at many patterns I settled on a Eleanor Burns' pattern, Road to Stardom Quilt. I bought the rulers to go with this but have never used them so it helped in the decision. But of course I think the patterns works well with the fabric. Plus the stars work to go with the time Jackie loved Star Trek. ;-)

Mary's Flower Purse
Just finished this today and will mail it to Mary. The plan was to have it ready for her to take to college so I'm just late by a few months! Better than years!

Internation Quilt Show / Houston
I'm going to the International Quilt Show tonight. The local quilt guild, "The Woodlands Area Quilt Guild", is taking a bus. Tonight is the preview night, the show will run throught the weekend so I hope to go again.
I went once a few years ago. It was very big and you just can't see everything in one trip. Perhaps next time I'll take classes but with just moving I figured I'd take it easy.

Empty Nest
On July 7, 2009 we found out we were being transferred to Houston. It has been crazy since then. I did get Jackie and Mary's towels embroidered. Every now and then I've worked on sewing on the border to the traveling dog quilt. Also had pulled out sewing machine and did a little piecing and then put it all back away so the house was ready to "show" that day.
Today we are having church friends over for coffee and dessert. This is Mary's last night at home before going to college and I'm starting to feel a little funny about this. Even with Monica at home I still feel like I'll have an empty nest. Because I don't really take care of her I guess. Jackie has been unhappy here most of the summer and can't wait to get back to her friends.
Well, at least cleaning and cooking for the party will keep me busy today. Then us girls will go on a road trip! Jackie, Mary and I will head out early and try to get to Richmond, IN before nightfall. Monica will be here holding down the fort!

I finished adding borders to a quilt (dogs and cars) I started when we lived in Katy, TX on Monday, June 8. Took it to Sonya to quilt yesterday, along with the Christmas quilt. That one she is going to baste and I am going to hand quilt that one. Why? Well, because Jacqueline asked me to.
I am starting another quilt with the leftovers from dogs and cars. It will be a four patch quilt for Jacqueline to keep in the car in Ohio. So she will always have a blanket in the car in case of emergencies! OK, so it is really just for the long car trips! I doubt she would ever end up in a snow bank.

Quilt Show
April 3, 2009: I worked for two hours as a white glove lady. Looks like the show will do very well!
April 4, 2009: Mary and I made it to the last two hours of the quilt show, not long enough! Hope I will be able to stay longer next time!

Quilting is done
The quilting is done on my Strawberry Lemonade quilt (note I've given it a different name). I did get it finished Sunday night. On Monday I was going to buy binding, so I went hunting for my scraps and what do you know! I already have binding, it came with the kit. Had spent Monday redoing the living room and shopping with Mary. Today went to church to try and rearrange desks again. And tomorrow I'll go up and help sew. We are making baptismal bibs again.

Pink Lemonade
I finished the quilt February 17, 2009. It was begun September 9, 2006.
I started quilting the outer border yesterday. It feels like this quilt will never be done. I can't even remember when it was started.

It is the quilt that Eleanor Burns taught during the workshop I went to. I did not do a very good job with the piecing so I'll not put it into the quilt show. I used it as a experimental piece to try different ways of quilting. From stitch in the ditch, to the new hand quilting with long stitches and also machine embroidery.
