Romantic Roses

Backing is made. Quilt measures 73.5" x 58". I have Warm and Natural batting, now I need to find a floor big enough to pin baste.

This is the first project from my list that I'm starting. Not the first thing I've started because I had to make a little mini quilt for the quilt show. I'm finished sewing it and have been hand quilting the stars. But today I put the backing together for this quilt and figured out it would cost at least $100 to have it quilted, and it is only a lap quilt. Its 73.5" x 58". So I think that I need to just quilt it myself. It will have to go into a new pile because I have others I need to finish quilting first.

Before going on I need to stop and fill out the entry forms for the WAQG Quiltshow in April. The forms are due in one week.

Happy New Year!

I know I have done this before but my friend Nancy suggested we all make a new years resolution about the quilts we would want to do this next year. We all raised our eyebrows when she said that her other bee picked one UFO to finish. One??? Gosh, I hope I can finish one. I pointed out that it would be more challenging to not start one in the next year to which the raised eyebrows were pointed at me!! Ha, ha. At my mention of posting this on a blog everyone declined but I know me and it is a challenge I give myself.

So today after scumming the floor I attempted to photograph all the projects I have left to quilt, piece and or cut. After taking some shots, I saw three or four I missed but I think you'll get the idea. I'd like to figure out how to make a slide show to insert here instead of adding 20 to 30 pictures. For now the photo shows 18 projects. My total count is up to 30, but I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Well, that seems do-able; says the crazy lady! I think my idea of not starting anything new may have hit the nail on the head.

Now, I can't start just yet. The quilt show entry's are due and the Needle Dreamers Bee is going to Huntsville, TX tomorrow to see Elaine's friends entry in a museum show called Deep Space. But I have finished making the 8 block exchange kits to hand out (because mine block seems to have walked away) tomorrow. Also I think I'm done making everyone else's block. Oh, that would be 31 projects. Elaine will be my partner, other wise known as the only one who can badger me about my UFOs and try and keep me from starting very many new projects. And I for my part will try, TRY and encourage her to do the same. LOL

The weather has been really warm so I worked outside a little yesterday. I dead headed the mums I planted in October; they started re-blooming. I think I'll see what Walmart has in and perhaps get an early start on the flower beds. I keep wondering how my grass is growing at the farm in Missouri!
