All done!

Update: after the wedding

Here is the king sized double wedding ring quilt all done!  Only 154 days to go until the wedding!  I'll start ironing the backing and get it ready to take to Sonja, long arm quilter in Fayetteville, AR.  http://sosews.com/home.html  I have tried to give her plenty of time, plus give me time to get the binding on.

126 3/4" x 115 1/4

Last row, 154 days til the wedding!

Finished up the last rows today!!  We took some close up shots, plus the last row being sewn together.

The last row is really sewing two groups together, six rows and four rows.

Pin, pin and pin; the more the merrier!

Tweezers from the my serger came in very handy!

Back to work

We had a party last weekend so I haven't done much with the quilt in a week, besides hiding it from John and Emlyn when they came.  Started sewing rows together, I'm not super happy with the way it is working out.  The four patch areas are poofing up, not laying flat so I guess I stretched something at some point. I have used spray starch and steam iron to make it flat and that does seems to help a little.  Plus I'm not happy because now I'm really seeing all the seams that don't meet perfectly.  Do you think I'll ever make anything without mistakes?!!  Well, it won't be this time either.  I just hope Sonja can deal with it when she quilts it, other wise this quilt will not get done.  So enough with the whining. Did go ahead and add the footballs on the right side.

156 days to go!

But not on the bottom; I think I'll tackle that after putting a few rows together, or maybe the whole thing.  I know it won't all be done today but maybe tomorrow, with any luck.

Second set of five rows

These were done on September 11, but the internet was out so its taken me awhile to get back to posting.

175 days

After sewing some blocks together I started the rows.  These five fit nicely on the design wall so working in these groupings, then moving them onto a queen size bed seems like a good way to go.

Note to self!

These have to be sewn as two different blocks, cannot just rotate.
Only 177 days to go!!!

Next step

I finished up the last step of sewing the arches onto the melon/arch yesterday.

There are 90 blocks that need to be made.

This is a "block".

180 days to go!

Quilt Therapy

I have to confess to needing a break from all the curves I've been sewing.  I made the wall hanging from scraps Nancy gave me.  I played around with stitching and decided to use it to put my quilt pins on.

The next little one didn't turn out to be the right sized so I'll try again but I like the idea in general.

Your mission...

My friend Nancy gave everyone in our bee some Christmas fabric from her stash during the Christmas party in 1012.  "Our mission, should we choose to accept it", was to make something by Christmas 2013.  What a fun friend!  During our July workshop day, where we bring our machines and sew all day, we had a Christmas in July sewing workshop.  I actually worked in June and July, using some of what she gave me along with some from my stash.  I finished the top but had to set it aside and try to focus on the DWR.   I used the Accuquilt Studio cutter to cut Jewel Box blocks.  After I finished some people asked for the pattern.  I used EQ7 to create it; here it is in EQ7:

If you are interested in a copy of the pattern let me know.

DWR in progress...enter at your own risk!

August 10, 2013 196 Days to go!
June 24, 2013 Chaining away.

Everyone one keeps asking how its going.  I wish I knew!!  I think I'm on track but only time will tell. Thanks to the kids website I know that there are 196 days to go until John and Emlyn are married.

John and Emlyn's wedding quilt

I've been sewing away on the double wedding ring quilt, this is really going to take for ever!  But still happy to be making it!!  (When did I start this??)  I had a surprise when I walked around the table to cut off the chain.

I've never had that happen before!  Usually it is just a mixed up pile.  As far as progress goes I still haven't gotten half way through the arches, but hope to pass the 100 point today.  I did jump ahead a little yesterday and started sewing the small arch side on to the melon/oval shape and was happy it went together just fine.  What a relief! Well, time to get to it, 243 days to go.

Taking Flight for Jocelyn Roesler These are not the real blocks, just a rough idea so I could plan the setting. The real blocks are from a B...
