My supervisor

Bella likes to hangout with me while I'm in my quilting room. She uses this folded old store bought quilt.

But yesterday I needed her up off my floor so I wouldn't step on her. She was curled up on just the white quilt for most of the day...then I turned around and saw this:

I guess she realized she could stretch out!

Longarm quilting pincushion

I made this pincushion to use while loading a quilt onto the longarm.  It isn't finished, but it will go around my wrist.

I used five inch squares instead of what is called for, before sewing all the way around I stuffed it with leftover wool batting and will be sewing on the wrist bracelet, by hand, next.

Let me know if you'd like more details on how to make the wrist pincushion.

Pinwheel

Second quilt of 2021 finished on the longarm quilt machine yesterday.

This was a block exchange quilt. It still needs the binding but for now I will move on to quilting the next quilt. I'm not sure what I will do with it yet.

Sean's Bird quilt

When I am sewing Sean is always asking me to make him a quilt. So the first quilt I have quilted on the longarm this year is for his 5th birthday at the end of May.

Close up so you can see the birds.

I think it is an interesting color combination: brown and light blue. I would never think to put these together but it works so well!

Longarm

Working on the second quilt of this trip to the farm. The tension is finally good but the thread broke again. This is really frustrating, is it the needle, my speed, or some other problem. I hate to say it but I am sorry I bought this machine. Other longarm quilters don't seem to have this problem. And of course they, both the manufacturer (TinLizzie) and the sales people, have gone out of business. Well, here are a couple of photos.

Ok, back upstairs to try again. Wish me luck! ;)

Where did 2020 go?

It seemed like I was always sewing on something in the pandemic year of 2020, a few masks, baby things, aprons, finishing up a few quilts that still need to be quilted and of course starting a hand full of new quilts. But these two guys are the only ones that made it from start to finish! They are both from kits.

They are living at the farm now after bringing us a little snow in Texas.

Here are some closeups.

I made the apron for Mary. She didn't want a quilt for Esther but needed receiving blankets so I made two. (This is from 2020.)

Taking Flight for Jocelyn Roesler These are not the real blocks, just a rough idea so I could plan the setting. The real blocks are from a B...
