Ruff idea

This is a VERY rough idea on where I am going with the quilt for Sean. No reason to make it exact. It was good enough to give me the idea of size and know that I really want a white border before adding the four patch borders.

The blocks are done...

the next step is to cut and sew background. I wish the free patterns would come with a file to use in EQ8 so I can make it bigger more easily. Oh well, the next step would be to make another border and turn it into a full size.

Oh dear...

I have been working on quilting but other things too. Including just regular mending. Today I saw that the Quilting Bee had fabric on sale that I have loved for a few years so instead of just ordering I thought I should know how much I really need. I turned to EQ8 and had a refresher course on how to download fabric swatches, thanks to Sunrise Quilt Studio on YouTube (Importing Fabric Swatches into EQ8 from a Fabric Website). Not what I meant to do this morning but it was a good exercise on using EQ8. Anyway this is the image.

Back to designing

Today was spent designing on EQ8. I recreated Pat Sloan's Anniversary Block so I could make a table top quilt. Here is what I have for now, but it is a work in progress.

It measures 58" x 58".

Last Four Blocks

These are ready to be sewn tomorrow! But time for bed now. ;-)

Prep for next four blocks, the corner blocks.

After cutting focus fabric and background fabric it is layered with the sewing guide paper, Triangles on a Roll.

Cut on the solid lines, and now I have 24 half square triangles.

Next remove paper, and then press open the seam lines and trim "dog ears".

Now to lay them out to start sewing. These four will be in the same setting, Ribbon Star Block.

Results of those four blocks

Christmas Tea

I don't remember when I made this but it hasn't made it's way to the blog yet. This was done by needle turn applique.

Happy New Year!

One of my goals for this year is to do a better job of finishing quilts and other projects. At the end of 2023 I sorted, prepped, and counted my on going projects.

I found that I had 22 and since then I have probably come up with at least five more. The first or should I say main one is going to be Sean's dinosaur quilt. It is on the design wall in the photo.

Did that mean I wasn't tempted to start a new one? Of course not! I made a free block with my sewing fabric. It will be a leader and ender project. At the moment I think it will be about nine blocks. Then use it as a table topper in the sewing room. The pattern is from Pat Sloan at https://www.ilovetomakequilts.com/

This is the first block of the year. Followed quickly by another block for Sean's quilt.

I was working on this pattern today for the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild in Hermann, MO. There are so many things you can do with the Electric Quilt 8 program but I can't keep it all straight. I will have to break down and call to figure out how to add an applique into an existing block.

Time to update the other website about the farm too.

Its impossible for me to not be distracted so here is another quilt I designed in EQ. It makes me think of Cora, lol, of course!
